Powering the METAmorphosis of BUILDings towards a future decarbonised and sustainable energy system Duration
META BUILD is a “Horizon Europe” project aim is the decarbonization of heating and cooling energy in buildings in line with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), the Repower EU objectives and the “Fit-for-55” package. To do this, different innovative solutions will be developed and integrated into future-proof buildings towards the full decarbonization of the European building stock by 2050. These solutions will combine retrofitting of the building envelope and 19 technological options, including:
- 1) electrification technologies to meet the thermal demand of buildings, based mainly on different heat pump technologies;
- 2) renewable energy and storage technologies, such as the hybrid solar technology (PVT), the PV technology and second-use batteries; and
- 3) intelligent energy management systems to optimize the use of on-site renewable energy production. There will be 6 demonstration sites in different European countries: Austria, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy and Spain.
ENDEF’s ROLE: ENDEF will supply the Solar hybrid air-based panels (PVT-a) for the demonstration project located in Croatia. Besides, the PVT system will be integrated with heat pumps, whose energy production will be fed into an existing district heating network.
