Task60 focuses on the application of PVT collectors with the aim of evaluating existing solutions and developing new principles in which PVT technology really offers advantages over the classic “separate installations” of solar thermal collectors and photovoltaic modules. The production of energy, the competitive cost, the security and the reliability of the systems are, therefore, in the objective of the Task.
The objectives of the Task are:
1. Provide an overview of the current state of PVT technology (2018-2020) worldwide.
2. Gather the results and the operational experience carried out with the systems in which the PVT collectors are integrated.
3. Improve testing, modeling, and proper technical characterization of PVT collectors to improve (and simplify) the correct inclusion of PVT technology in simulation programs and planning tools.
4. Address all types of PVT collectors since current markets have not made clear decisions.
5. Find PVT solutions, in addition to the already known two applications, such as, for example, the regeneration of well warehouses and DHW preheating for multi-family homes.
6. Explore possible cost reductions in the balance of systems, that is, technology and materials of pipes, hydraulic systems, controllers, etc.
7. Increase awareness of PVTs.
8. Support the “restart” of the PVT industry.
The Task 60 project is organized by the International Energy Agency (IEA).
